Touring A Day in My Life with Pictures
I begin each day by waking up to my alarm as is common for most people; however, I also awake to the image of my dog Franklin checking to see if I am awake. Every morning begins with a laugh as I open my eyes to see Franklin's forehead and wide eyeballs.
Once I finally get up from bed, I take out my two pups, Franklin and Belle, and feed all five of my pets. First I begin by feeding my cats, as they tend to scream and meow until they are fed, then I feed my dogs, and lastly I feed my bearded dragon, Shenron, as she is the most patient.
Typically after I have eaten breakfast, taken care of my pets, and before I go to school, I like to read a few sections of my Bible and do some journaling. I'll read passages that reflect and help me to understand my feelings of that particular day (whether it be anxiety, stress, happiness, loneliness, etc.). I have found this proces allows me to start my day off correctly with a good plan on how to succeed to the best of my abilities that day.
Every day of the week I attend my classes at Purdue University Fort Wayne. This semester in particular is very text heavy so I have quite a few books and readings to do for each of my classes. The majority of my readings are plays that I utilize in order to create set designs in my theatrical design classes.
As a student with three majors and two minors, I spend a lot of my time at PFW reading, studying, and doing homework. It is not uncommon for me to spend over half of my day trying to keep up on school work.
In the evenings after all of my school classes, I drive to ICON Dance Center to teach dance classes. I teach every day during the week except for Mondays. I work with students of all ages in a variety of dance styles including ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, tumbling, musical theatre, and more. Dance is my passion and the thing that brings me the most joy in my life--I would not trade dance or teaching dance for anything.
Once I have finished with my classes at ICON Dance Center, I drive home and continue either working on school or performing daily tasks such as checking my email, cutting dance music, and working on my small sticker shop.
As I am very busy, typically during the night is when I have the most time to not only finish up school work but maintain my home environment. This is when I typically do my daily household chores, as well.
The chore I find myself doing the most of is laundry. Although it is just myself and my husband in the house with clothes, we always have dirty ones! Not only am I constantly having to wash, dry, and fold clothes, my cats (particularly my cat Marshmallow) make the task more difficult by playing in and inspecting the dryer. My cats are very curious creatures and on the daily I find myself having to keep them out of trouble.
Early in the week, usually Sundays or Mondays, I plan out our meals for the week and create a grocery list. I always do my grocery shopping on Mondays because that is usually when stores have the most stock. I do not like creating lists for groceries on my phone because I find it is more difficult to look at and hold while I am shopping. For this reason, I always make a paper version of my list and recycle the paper afterwards.
I wind down every night by watching a few episodes of my favorite shows and spending time with my husband. Oftentimes the most time we have together is at night so I don't always get to bed at the best time. Similarly, my dogs end the night just as silly as they began the day--they always sleep in the weirdest positions and love to snuggle with each other.
