Poverty: Food, Housing, and Employment

Due to the effects of the pandemic, including business and other necessary closures, unemployment rates spiked in 2020, reaching a high in Indiana in April 2020, during the state-mandated stay-at-home order.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Although not having to contend with a pandemic, the 1970s faced unemployment issues as well with higher inflation and lower economic growth, leading to greater income inequality. This struggle, particularly with unequal pay, was often more evident with women.
